Role Overview
Duolingo is seeking a Corporate Counsel (Marketing) to serve as a strategic legal partner to its Marketing team. The role focuses on advising marketing and advertising initiatives, managing risk while enabling creative execution, and ensuring compliance across channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as day-to-day legal advisor to Marketing on campaigns, social content, creator programs, and activations.
- Review and negotiate marketing agreements including influencer, production, licensing, and vendor contracts.
- Own rights and clearances for marketing assets across territories, platforms, and usage windows.
- Advise on advertising and consumer protection laws, disclosures, contests, and sweepstakes.
- Track regulatory and platform policy updates and train stakeholders on compliance and brand safety.
Requirements
- J.D. (or international equivalent) with active bar membership.
- 4–8+ years of relevant legal experience advising on marketing and advertising.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work from or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA.
