Role Overview
The Engineering Manager role at College Board leads teams building foundational platform capabilities for the Core Assessment Platform. The role blends people leadership with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable systems that support high-stakes educational assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, including system design, code review, and occasional hands-on coding.
- Build and sustain a high-performing, inclusive Agile engineering team.
- Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities.
- Manage scope, technical debt, system reliability, and operational costs.
- Approach all development with a strong security and reliability focus.
Requirements
- 7+ years of Agile software development experience.
- Experience building cloud-first, web-based platforms.
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, and React.
- Experience designing AWS-based architectures.
- Proven people management experience with engineering teams.
Additional Information
This is a full-time remote role within the United States, with optional hybrid work near College Board offices and occasional travel required.
