Role Overview
The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic officer of California State University, Fresno, reporting to the President and serving on the cabinet. The role provides strategic leadership across academic programs, faculty, research, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for eight colleges and the library
- Oversee all academic programs, instruction, research, and accreditation
- Lead innovation in teaching and research, including addressing AI opportunities and challenges
- Ensure recruitment, retention, tenure, and promotion of world-class faculty
- Guide assessment of learning outcomes and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Earned doctorate or terminal degree; Ph.D. strongly preferred
- Record meriting appointment as a full professor
- At least five years of senior academic leadership experience (Chair, Associate Dean, or Dean)
- Experience managing complex budgets and shared governance environments
