Role Overview
Handshake is seeking an AI Research Scientist specializing in Human–AI Interaction to lead impactful research at the intersection of HCI and AI systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research on jobs-to-be-done benchmarks for AI systems
- Design evaluation frameworks for AI-mediated workflows
- Run empirical studies including controlled experiments and field studies
- Publish findings in top-tier conferences such as CHI
- Build benchmarking infrastructure and AI-assisted research tools
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent experience in HCI, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of academic or industry research experience
- Strong publication record in top-tier HCI venues
- Expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and empirical evaluation
- Familiarity with LLM APIs and AI-assisted tooling

Location: San Francisco, California, United States, with remote work options available.
Compensation: $350,000 - $420,000 annually.
