Role Overview
Handshake is seeking an AI Research Scientist specializing in Human–AI Interaction to lead impactful research at the intersection of HCI and AI systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research on jobs-to-be-done benchmarks and evaluation frameworks for AI-mediated workflows.
- Design and run empirical studies, including controlled experiments and field studies.
- Develop benchmarking infrastructure and LLM-powered copilots for task-level measurement.
- Publish findings and open-source code in top-tier conferences such as CHI.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent experience in HCI, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of academic or industry research experience post-PhD.
- Strong publication record in top-tier HCI venues.
- Expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and empirical evaluation.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, AI-assisted tools, and Python.
Additional Information
Location: San Francisco, California, United States, with remote work options available. Compensation ranges from $350,000 to $420,000 annually.
