Role Overview
Manchester Metropolitan University is launching a new Centre for Digital Data Research (CDDR) and is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and optimise cloud-based data platforms supporting advanced analytics and AI-driven research.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and optimisation of the Azure-based CDDR platform
- Design and manage data pipelines, Lakehouse and data warehouse architectures
- Collaborate with researchers, data scientists and IT colleagues
- Promote best practices in data governance, security and automation
- Ensure platforms are scalable, secure and monitored
Requirements
- Proven experience in data warehousing and data ingestion
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services including Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL and ADF
- Understanding of modern data architectures, ETL/ELT and AI workloads
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Additional Information
The role supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements and offers a salary of £48,822 to £56,535 per year (Grade 9).
